Everything we make is posted from our studio in Brooklyn. In-stock canvases, kits and tools are packed and posted within five to seven business days, and you will receive tracking by email as soon as your parcel is on its way. Standard shipping is free on orders of $125 or more and $8 below that; express shipping is $15 on any order. We currently ship within the United States only—if you are elsewhere and would like a canvas, write to us and we will do what we can. Preorder canvases are produced in scheduled runs and typically take four to six months to arrive. Our Shipping Policy has the details.

We accept returns within thirty days of delivery, provided the canvas has not been worked and any thread in the kit is unopened. A canvas that has been worked, or a skein that has been opened, cannot be offered to anyone else, which is why we ask. Write to us with your order number before you post anything back, and we will confirm the return and send you the address. When the fault is ours—a canvas that arrives damaged, or the wrong item in the parcel—we cover the postage in both directions. A preorder may be cancelled at any time before it ships, for a full refund. The full terms are in our Refund Policy.

Mesh count is the number of threads to the inch. An 18-mesh canvas holds finer detail; 14 mesh is more open, works up faster, and suits a first canvas or a larger piece. Every canvas page lists its mesh count and design size, and each design carries a skill level: beginner designs use fewer colors and broader areas of a single shade, intermediate designs add more colors and finer detail, and advanced designs ask for a practiced hand and a season's patience. If you are new to needlepoint, our canvases for beginners are the place to start, and you are always welcome to write to us for a recommendation.

We do. Once your canvas is worked, we will see it blocked and constructed—into a framed piece, an ornament, a pillow, or nearly anything you can imagine—by finishers whose craftsmanship we trust with our own designs. Our designs are composed square by square on a precise grid, and printing lets each color sit exactly where the design places it, with no ambiguity at the edge of a motif and no interpretation required. Colors print crisp and true, lettering stays clean, and geometric lines hold their alignment across the full width of the piece. Each canvas is printed in the United States and arrives as an exact rendering of the design: a faithful foundation for your needlework.

While these techniques are different, each serves its purpose beautifully. Hand-painted canvases are the work of skilled artists, and we admire that tradition without reservation — a painterly design with blended washes and expressive brushwork deserves a painter's hand.

Our designs ask for something else. Every Pierrepont canvas is composed square by square on a precise grid, and that kind of design is served best by a printing process built for exactness. Printing places each color on the precise intersection where it belongs, with no ambiguity at the edge of a motif and no interpretation required — a fidelity to the grid that even the steadiest brush cannot match. The stitching experience is identical: the same canvas, the same threads, the same pleasure in the work.

We do, for our wholesale partners. Retailers may commission original designs exclusive to their shop — a canvas of your storefront, your town, or a motif your customers ask for by name. Custom work is subject to our standard design fee and wholesale minimums; we share full terms when you inquire, and our Wholesale page is the place to begin.
